SIEMENS has released the Simatic IPC427C compact Microbox PC and the Simatic HMI IPC477C Panel PC for rough industrial environments.
According to Siemens, the industrial embedded PCs are designed for maintenance-free and continuous 24-hour operation in ambient temperature of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius.
Siemens says its fanless embedded PCs units have been designed to withstand harsh temperature, vibration, shock and electromagnetic compatibility.
The Simatic IPC427C compact Microbox PC and the Simatic HMI IPC477C Panel PC can be used for communication tasks, measuring and open/closed-loop control, as well as for operator control and visualisation.
Siemens claims the new units are twice as powerful as the preceding models. The Simatic IPC427C has dimensions of 262 by 134 by 47mm, allowing it to be fitted into small control boxes or directly into a machine.
The Simatic HMI IPC477C Panel PC has a back-to-front size of 60mm, 20% less mounting depth than the preceding unit. It is available with touch screens of sizes 12, 15 and 19 inches.
The new industrial PCs can be delivered with processors up to Intel Core2 Duo (dual 1.2GHz cores). The main memory can be increased to up to 4GB. The system drive can consist of a solid state drive with 32 gigabytes, or up to two Compact Flash Cards with 8 gigabytes.
The devices feature four USB 2.0 ports, two 10/100/1000 MB/s Ethernet terminals and an optional Profibus connection as interfaces. The Simatic HMI IPC477C provides a Profinet interface with three ports.
